Planning a wedding can be daunting for the most organized of individuals. It is not uncommon for modern day couples to be juggling full time jobs, a social life, family and friends, all the while planning one of the biggest milestones of their lives. The good news, however, is that you don’t have to do it alone.
In this article, we look into the differences between the services provided by venue coordinators and day-of wedding coordinators.
What role does a venue coordinator have?
Venue Coordinators are responsible for overseeing products and services offered by the venue. They are often assigned to you, by the venue, in the months leading to your wedding day. Over the course of a few meetings, they will assist in coordinating details pertaining to: a hospitality timeline, floor plan, food and beverage selection, rentals, and load-in and load-out details, to name a few. On the day of the wedding itself, they may be present to simply oversee the setup, or in some cases, not be onsite, at all. Ultimately, their primary focus is the venue.
What does a day-of wedding coordinator do?
A Day of Wedding Coordinator is often secured by couples who feel they require additional support in the weeks leading to their wedding day. Wedding planning can be overwhelming, with the final weeks before the wedding often times the most stressful. As last-minute tasks continue to mount, a Day-Of Coordinator is the fresh pair of eyes and experience a couples often needs.
Unlike a Venue Coordinator, whose timeline focuses on the needs of the venue, a Day-Of Coordinator will build a complete and thorough timeline of the day’s events. They will oversee both a contact list and a vendor list, often managing load in and load out logistics of vendors prior to the event. They will also be responsible for the laying out of personal décor items; something your Venue Coordinator will not do. Most importantly, they will be onsite to oversee the direction of your wedding, ensuring everyone sticks to timeline by assisting in the queuing of formalities such as the processional, speeches, and dances.
