Nice location, a bit off the path in the east end. Accessible by street car. Small but well appointed interior, lots of older staircases & bathrooms in the basement. Outdoor patio is great for smokers & a bit of air as it is gated. Beautiful old church with kitchen/bar facilities & a upper balcony area, which can get hot when there is a crowd, no proper air circulation. Parking is difficult, some lots in the area, prices not to bad.
We hosted our wedding at Berkeley Church this past October and cannot say enough positive things about the experience. From our first site visit to the wedding night, the venue was responsive, attentive, and thorough. We were matched with Allie as our wedding coordinator, and she is AMAZING. So kind, fun, answered quickly the million questions we sent, and made us feel like the venue was ours for the wedding. Totally open to all our ideas, we really felt complete freedom in designing the wedding. The food was amazing, the service and staff were on point, and it really is such a beautiful and unique place right in the heart of downtown Toronto to get married. We feel very lucky to have chosen Berkeley as it met our expectations. Only strange thing that happened was that our wedding cake disappeared by the time we went to pick it up the next day...but honestly, I hope whoever took it enjoyed it because it was delicious. Highly recommend Berkeley!
Great venue for most events... a very old and architecturally lovely building. A bit of authentic wear and tear thruout the building that dim lights and decorating do not cover but actually enhance the atmosphere. Some work should be done for sure, but it does not take away. It's layout is awesome! Wrap around veranda overlooking the main floor. Bar staff friendly, food service quick and efficient and food... BAM!!! Delicious!!! Also has tech to use for presentations and for dancing.
One of the best churches for weddings and celebrations! Beautiful historic landmark that offers services and is adjacent to its very own night scene/club for convenient and classy hosting of religious events.
Anyone that visits this landmark leaves with a feeling of enrichment!
I am so thankful we decided to have our big day at the Berkeley Church!
Location: I don’t think you will find a more beautiful venue downtown Toronto. Our photos from the day turned out stunning because of the beautiful back drop the venue provided. Our guests were so impressed too! I especially loved that we could do everything in one place with no flips! It made the day so seamless. The mezzanine for the ceremony was so beautiful and provided a really intimate environment. The basement, while perhaps a bit small, was actually perfect for the cocktail hour as it allowed the groom and I to easily mingle with all our guests. The main floor is the perfect reception location! There was ample room for our ~115 guests, and still a massive dance floor! Again, the room looks absolutely beautiful and makes for excellent photos (especially with the overhead string lights).
The food was delicious! I also greatly appreciated how everything was accurately represented at the tasting – the quality did not change despite the mass production on our wedding day. Plus, there were so many amazing options to chose from too, so to appeal to a diverse array of tastes (and dietary restrictions).
The staff was incredibly professional. It was clear that this was far from their first wedding. They even thought to bring some appetizers upstairs where the bridal party was taking photos so that we didn’t miss out. It was so thoughtful! Allie, the coordinator was very knowledgeable, friendly and flexible. She truly wanted us to have our perfect day and was therefore willing to suggest alternatives to suit our individual needs.
This was great for us! Compared to “open bar” packages at other venues, it was far more economical. Additionally, we were able to chose exactly what we wanted to serve the day of. Our guests loved the signature drinks the Berkeley Church made for us! All we had to do was provide the recipe – and they did the rest.
There honestly isn’t a thing I would change about our day, and that is largely because of the perfect setting provided by the Berkeley Church.
